Sound the funeral bell. It's dead. After three measly episodes. Were people sick of hearing "His FATHER is the district attorney..." and "You can't tell me who to see!" one too many times during the baseball playoffs?

From EOnline: "As for Skin, Fox execs had promised to be patient with the heavily hyped Jerry Bruckheimer-produced series, but the downward sloping ratings didn't point to a rebound for the drama. Insiders speculate that Skin's porn biz background may have turned some viewers off."

From Variety: "Fox execs had said they would be patient with "Skin," but Monday's ratings were so low execs simply gave up hope of salvaging the generally well-reviewed skein. Despite a massive p.r. campaign on behalf of the show, viewers simply never showed up for "Skin." Industry insiders were buzzing Tuesday about the reasons for the skein's failure. Among the theories: Viewers may have been turned off by the idea of a show with a porn industry backdrop or perhaps auds looking for suds in their diet may have been sated by Fox's WBTV-produced "The O.C."

Since we never actually SAW porn, how could we be turned off?

Ineresting side note: Eight episodes of Skin had been produced. We've only seen three. No word from Fox if those shows will ever air.

Goodbye sweet Adam. No tears, Jewel. Somewhere, somehow, there's a resolution to the whole Roam/Goldman battle. But none of us will ever get to know what happens.

Skin's not airing next Monday. Or the following Monday. Looks like it's cancelled. Do people think this was really a show about porn? Cause it wasn't! Hell, if Shakespeare can sell this story hundreds of years ago, why can't Fox?

So there wasn't a repeat of Skin last night. Oh well. I hope it doesn't get cancelled.

The famous-but-aging porn star Ginger Lynn will be on Monday's episode playing (what else?) a famous-but-aging porn star. I'd give you a link, but I'm afraid the FBI will come after me for looking at girlie pix on my browser. I have no idea who she is either, but here's what she looks like on the show:

Porn star? Oookay.

Here is an online forum for Skin fans.

It looks like most of the recent posts have to do with hoping for good ratings. Apparently JM:DFCE sank Skin like a ton of bricks.

Luckily, FOX seems to be behind the show, because they are going to show an encore presentation of each episode on Thursdays at 9 in order to reach more viewers.

Episode 101 airs tonight so don't forget to watch!

News: DJ Cotrona (Adam Roam) will be on Jimmy Kimmel's show on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Also, here are two articles about DJ you might find interesting:

From seventeen.com
From ym.com.

So, what did everyone think of the pilot?

Upon rewatching it, I would have to say that I didn't really like their first big scene together in the pool. I guess it was a nod to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, since in that movie they lock eyes through the fish tank.

But since it is physically possible to lock eyes in a fish tank, I am a little more forgiving of Baz.

I mean, can you imagine keeping your eyes peeled in a chlorine-filled pool for that long????? Okay, maybe I'm just not that romantic.

Isn't Mrs. Roam hardcore? I love hardass politician's wife type characters.

But for me, Ron Silver really makes the show.

Well, the pilot is airing again on Friday at 9, so if you missed it, check it out.

News: Olivia Wilde (Jewel Goldman), our leading lady, appears in this month's Glamour- she will also be on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn on Wednesday. She's a very beautiful gal and a great actress so check it out.

Also, check out this Skin article at E!

The show makes its West Coast debut in about two hours- I'm excited to be able to discuss the pilot in depth.

I didn't follow my plan to rewatch the first couple of episodes because I was watching episode 103 instead- a great new episode featuring real life porn star Ginger Lynn Allen.

She plays- what else- a porn star- who helped build Goldman's empire and has the inside scoop on Goldman and his bigwigs.

I'll post more after the show airs- and after watching Joe Millionaire: The Dumb Foreign Chicks Edition.

Can't wait!

All right, here we go.

Welcome Skinfans!

My name is Sarah and I was introduced to Skin through a friend of mine who works for FOX (the same friend who later approached me about writing this blog). He showed me the pilot and I was intrigued by it.

Not only was the acting good and the love story interesting, but the idea of making a series out of Romeo and Juliet really got me into the show.

As a former high school English teacher, I know Romeo and Juliet inside and out, probably a little better than I should. (Incidentally, Romeo and Juliet is EVERY bit as dirty as Skin, in its own way. Hey, try explaining double entendres like "the heads of the maids or their maidenheads" to a bunch of ninth graders. Not fun.)

Anyhow, I digress. The point is that knowing Romeo and Juliet as well as I do, I was very interested to see how the series would continue- I mean, obviously if it's going to be profitable, the two main characters can't commit suey in episode 3.

So how are they going to make an entire TV series out of this story?

Well, I've seen the first three episodes- and although no one has taken poison or been buried alive, the show is still holding my interest.

My favorite character so far is the D.A.'s wife. She's such a hardass ala Mrs. Palmer in 24- will do anything to get her man reelected.

Anyhow, my plan for the next few days is to rewatch the first three episodes, and maybe some more if I can get my hands on them and get together some thoughts on each one so that you can get a better feel for why I like the series so much...

I'll probably post later this evening after watching the pilot again...

I'll leave you with this final thought... YOU CAN'T TELL ME NOT TO SEE HIM!!!!!!!
